Building Better Meetings:
Involvement is the Key to Action

People want more when they attend a meeting today. Associations are striving to deliver a higher level of value to promote attendance and build loyalty. National associations are striving to provide chapter leaders with tools to help them become better leaders and incorporate a value they can use both in the chapter and in their job.

We have designed an innovative format for a two hour session that will be presented for the leadership of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Executives Association International. The objective is to provide significant value for the leaders who are staying an additional day at the end of their very successful "Affordable Meetings Conference." Wayne will be presenting his highly acclaimed keynote, "Winning the Value Battle: How to Sell Against a Cheaper Price." In addition we have designed an interactive workshop which he will present to assist the leaders to define, communicate, and promote the value of membership in HSMAI. The interactive portion will apply the principles detailed in the keynote and will address the unique problems associated with selling individuals on investing the time and money to grow professionally and give the leaders confidence ion growing their chapters.

To conduct this combination of keynote and workshop we are expanding the research we normally conduct. An email survey will identify the problems leaders have in selling against price and, most importantly, getting people to invest the time and money for association involvement. We will also uncover, in the reseach, the best practices and build them into the interactive portion. A summary of the research results will be presented to the association.

The two-hour program closes with a summary and a call to action. This innovative format allows the many chapter leaders from the US and abroad to get a message of value they can use in their own careers, apply to growing chapter involvement, and apply to their membership.
